Our voice is the basis for expressing ourselves by speaking. The sound that comes out due to the vibration of the vocal cords in the throat allows a person to express herself\/himself and speak. The voice can be damaged due to complications due to the upper respiratory tract, damage to the vocal cords, and many other reasons. Voice diseases are divided into various titles. These includes infections in the vocal cords, nodules, polyps, cysts,\u00a0 polypoid degeneration (Reinke’s edema). Serious diseases such as vocal cord cancer and vocal cord paralysis are among voice diseases.<\/p>

Nodule formation in the vocal cords occurs when the vocal cords are used a lot. It develops due to thickening of the vocal cords in people who talk a lot such as teachers or singers, and it is a common condition. A polyp is a swelling or mass formation in the vocal cords. This is usually caused by internal bleeding in the vocal cords.<\/p>

Symptoms such as hoarseness, swelling in the neck region, feeling of a mass in the throat, pain in the ear, difficulty in swallowing and shortness of breath, which last for more than two weeks and do not get better, may occur. People with such symptoms should not delay diagnosis and treatment and should consult a doctor. Vocal cord cysts, on the other hand, are fluid-filled cysts that occur due to obstructions in the tissues that moisten the vocal cords. It often causes aphonia. There are 2 main diseases caused by smoking. The first of these is Reinke’s edema. Due to smoking, a gelatinous liquid accumulates in the vocal cords and with this fluid, serious changes occur in the voice. The most serious of these diseases is vocal cords cancer. Smoking, genetic factors, diet, exposure to chemicals and many other external factors can trigger the cancer formation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

After the symptoms are examined and the necessary examinations are made, the treatment methods are determined. Each voice disease cause has a different treatment method. People with vocal cord nodules should not use their voice and go to a voice therapy if necessary. Nodule healing is a long-term disorder. Surgical interventions are applied when the nodules are large and solid. In this intervention, nodules are removed without causing any damage to the vocal cords by using an operating microscope.<\/p>

Similarly, in the treatment of polyps, cysts and Reinke’s edema, the swollen or edematous area is taken with the operating microscope.
